Amazon gives me enough of a glimpse, I can tell whether I want to purchase it or not. I might be more inclined to try out a book preview if I see a favorable review blurb next to it though, even when the author's blurb doesn't excite me much. The final purchase though is strictly how I like the generous preview Amazon gives. I only give credence to one thing in choosing the books I read: the preview. I don't really think much of them myself. Having said that, I have been asked for one once. I knew the gal from a writing group. Hadn't read the book (she sent me a snippet) though I'd heard some during critiques sessions. Ultimately I told her I didn't feel comfortable coming up with something--she was nice about it. Tho I haven't heard from her since :shock: I am sadly not to a level where I have author blurbs, soooo…. I don’t really think much of them myself.
