I’m going to be self-sacrificing this week (ha!), and direct your attention toward another blog post, which is much more informative and far more interesting than anything I could’ve come up with after a very long week.
If you haven’t read it yet, Dear Author featured a post by best-selling author Maya Banks entitled, “Everything You Wanted To Know About Digital Publishing But Were Afraid To Ask”.
And while it probably isn’t EVERYTHING a body might want to know, there’s a good deal of interesting information there.
I, for instance, was intrigued to read about an author who hasn’t put out a book in a couple of years, who has 5-6 titles with a digital publisher and they earn “8-12k per month”. (Okay, “intrigued” may not be the right word…maybe…lessee…wondering where all my thousands of dollars are??).
Like publishing, it isn’t all about money, of course. There’s a lot more covered there, including her writing technique, actions taken when dissatisfied with a publisher, managing time, etc.
And if none of that floats your boat, it’s interesting to read the thoughts of someone who makes at least $600k a year, and speaks of it very casually.
If you haven’t seen it, it’s well worth reading, and Ms. Banks is pretty frank.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
