Just another damn group blog!
I don’t just mean that in a hetrosexual way. I mean I love men. I love the way they smell–soap, laundry soap, cologne…pheromones. I love the swagger in their walk. Seriously, I fall a little in love when I see men interact with each other there’s just something so masculine and unguarded about men talking… Sigh.
100 years old, in a nursing home, I’ll be the lecher pinching the male nurse’s butt. So it should come as no surprise that I read (and write) romance for the hero.
And, my shame has no limits. I have a mental list of heroes that you could title “If they were real I’d have their babies”.
1. Tucker Longstreet from Carnal Innocence by La Nora (her publisher should totally start publishing her books under that name.)
2. Thomas Walker from Smoke In Mirrors by Jayne Ann Krentz.
3. Richard De Galtres from The More I See You by Lynn Kurland.
4. Aiden Gallahger (sp?) from Jewels of the Sun by La Nora.
I could go on….Ok. Movie Characters…
5. Brad Pitt in Interview With a Vampire
6. Brad Pitt in Legend of the Fall

7. Brian White from Stomp the Yard.

In all of these parts, these men played characters that just made my heart go pitter-patter For me there was something undeniably MALE. I guess you can say they made me feel feminine. I’m all for strong and independent women. I’m one myself. But some days I want to feel like the damsel. Not because I can’t handle it, but because I don’t have to. A small distinction. You can sum it up as I can depend on these males as they play these roles.
OMG, HAWT.
But I won’t.
What heroes make you sigh? What do you love about men? (Bernard, what do you love about women?)

A – to the – MEN, Sista!!! Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes.
*dashing off to change panties*
Ok I’m back now. And you know, they don’t even have to be all big and macho to be MALE. IMO the best ones aren’t all Sly Stallone (if you will) so much as (forgive me) Nicholas Cage (who I would so do in a minute, receeding hairline or not. He’s got those EYES…Lawd there goes my panties again…) and…Sam Elliott. NEW. York. MINUTE!

I confess I married my want list in a woman – professional woman with her own career, she can take pain better than any human being I’ve ever met (man or woman), great sense of humor which is probably the number one asset for either sex, and best of all she’s put up with me for almost four decades.

I like men, period. There’s always something to like in a man, whether it’s his voice or his hands or the way he moves. And the way they smell, yes.
Growing up I was a beach girl, so I always had a particular thing for the outdoor type, mainly the tanned, sun-bleached blond surfer boys and life guards. When I met one with a beautiful smile at work twenty-five years ago, we both fell hard (don’t ask me what he sees in me. I still don’t get it.)
The timing was wrong, and it took us both a while (and a few ex-spouses apiece) to figure it out, but we always came back to each other, so now we’re pretty sure it was meant to be. I attribute that more so to our deep and abiding friendship than the ups and downs of our romance, though. No matter what, we’ve always been friends, and whatever happens, I believe we always will be.

Hmmm.
Actually, can’t say I love “men”. I love SOME men, but can’t be that gender-general, I’m afraid. Have met a lot of a-holes (and don’t get me wrong, I’m no day at the beach either).
But yes, some of them really do it for me, lol.
Ames, YES on the Sam Elliott. Any time.
Probably strange, but Brad Pitt doesn’t work for me. Dunno why.
I like a man with presence. Wit. Intelligence. Humor. Sensitivity. And a touch of bad boy never hurts.
Getting older or not–Harrison Ford. Pierce Brosnan. Denzel. Oded Fehr. Hugh Laurie. Bill Mahr. Shemar Moore, just for being gorgeous. Keith Olbermann. And I actually think our president is pretty durn sexy in his way.
And Bernard, your wife sounds awesome.

Exactly. They can be smart, funny, compassionate. It doesn’t come down to looks but how they make me feel. How can you not drool over a man who makes you feel sexy, intelligent, appreciated…the list goes on.

You should totally let her read your comment here. That is so sweet.

Snort. One personal criteria for a man I date is that when I smell him do I hum a little. Even if it’s on the inside.
As for timing, I do think it plays a lot into whether or not a relationship can work. And friendship has to be the foundation. One can easily discard a lover, but you’ll think harder when you are casting aside a friend. (Or treating them in a crappy way.)

Lol. He works for me because of the way he treats his children in public. I swear my ovaries salute when I see a man being attentive to his children. Or watching one put in a car seat. Taking them to school…
I’m thinking it’s too easy when it comes to me and men.

I prefer a “type”. I like a ruged, protective, self-confident man who can make me laugh and what shy away from doing the dishes. I don’t think that’s asking for too much.
As far as book characters, it just so depends. Some characters on the surface should be great and fal flat and some that you don’t think you’d like are off-the-page great. (Who’da thunk I’d like a serial killer… but Dexter… he’s a great character!)
