Re: Sherlock Holmes, I’m especially curious about the homoerotic rumors I’ve been hearing about w/ Watson and Holmes. Funny though, I never detected any of that when I read one of the books. The previous movies didn’t have it either. Basil Rathbone must be spinning around in his grave right now. Then again, if the rumors about him are true, maybe not. lol

Yeah, we’d have to have some sort of delusion to continue doing what we do considering the odds. I’ll probably win the lottery first.

As for the e-books, I’m encouraged even if a lot of them were free downloads. When TVs first hit the market, my grandmother said only two families in her neighborhood had one for years before others followed. Part of the reason was because of price, another was because of unfamiliarity. However, slowly but surely, they caught on and now no house can do without one.

So we’ve had more downloads than print book sales at Amazon, which means people are getting used to reading this way and these same people will probably be giving e-readers as gifts. We can also reasonably expect the curiosity-factor to kick for those unfamiliar with e-readers.

Escargot – did i ever tell you about the time, when I was living in France, and we were having an escargot picnic, and the snails kept running away? And I was enthusing about the whole experience of roasting the little buggers alive to this cute guy, and he coolly tells me he’s vegan?

His name was Maison. Yeah, French for “house”. I can laugh now…!

5. I have to say Star Trek was probably my best surprise as movies go. Food: Sushi! YEAH! Books: The Girl She Used to Be and….THE HELP. Yeah I know it’s very hyped but a damn good read (though I do find myself wondering if it would have done so well/gotten so much hype if the author had been black!
