Just another damn group blog!
I live in a house full of dudes. One hubby and four sons (two of whom are teens) and we have enough testosterone to last forever… and then some. Often times the conversation will sway to, “Oh man, she’s hotâ€â€”especially if it’s Megan Fox. I don’t get the appeal of her, granted I’m a thirty-muffled-something mom (breast implants and that lip thingie, no–appeal), but my teens are not to be unconvinced. I am not so prude I don’t find women attractive. For instance I have a girly crush on Sandra Bullock (If there is anything not real on her, I don’t wanna know, ‘kay!).
In books, I tend to gloss over the descriptions when I read. I am not too shy to say, I ALWAYS picture myself as the heroine—unless she’s really whiney and TSTL, then I have someone else in mind. For the men though, I have my own hunk-de-jour I have in mind for the “face†of the Hero. I have very broad, but decided visual tastes. Not overly buff, but not overly skinny. And if he’s funny, super. Throw in an accent and I melt. (And don’t get me started on a uniform—not like the Good Humor man or anything, but some armed force and yowza.) But still that’s not what makes up sexy.
It’s the character of the character I focus on, though. That’s what makes me as the reader fan myself and turn page after page.
Sexy in a female: I want a gal who is not too prissy and not too butch who can ask for help when she really needs it and is right there to help kick butt when someone needs her. That’s not too much to ask is it?
When it comes to men, sexy to me is the way the man carries himself. If he’s assured and strong (be it physically and/or mentally) then to copy Paris, “That’s hawtâ€. The way he interacts with the heroine, touching (but not necessairly in a sexual way), and protective. I can’t think of a specific, that everyone would know from a book, but a lot of folks have seen Speed, right? Think of the scene where Jack (Reeves) covers Annie’s (Bullock–I really like her… LOL) body when the bus explodes… that is sexy to me!
What do you find sexy? Are there certain characteristic you find sexy? What in a H/H turns you on? OR do you just go for the looks? And that’s okay too—how many studies have seen where they talk about the aesthetics in finding mates and whatnot.

I think sexy is all in the attitude. Confidence and initiative!

What’s wrong with the Good Humor man?
I like men with big biceps. Not into the bodybuilder type, but muscular. Men with devastating smiles–does something to my heartbeat. Intelligence works, as does a dry sense of humor.
Confidence, yes…but a dorky guy wearing horn-rimmed glasses who seems a little shy can be sexy as all getout.
And he must like women. I’ve met a lot of men who really DON’T. They might want them, lust after them, feel a need to conquer them or to prove something, but that doesn’t mean they like them.
As for the heroines, etc…I have a thing for characters in process. I can take a prissy heroine, even one who’s TSTL, as long as she’s on the way to becoming something else/better. Love seeing the change.

Although she’s way too young for me, Cote DePablo (Ziva) from NCIS is very hot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zX0gDdZFiJ4 I’m with you, Megan Fox does nothing for me.

Megan Fox is very attractive, but I don’t buy into the hype “OMGSOHAWT!”
As for heroines, I don’t have to find them sexy for the book to work for me. I just require she doesn’t get on my nerves with her stupidity or lack of back bone.
And I’m not terribly picky with the hero. He just doesn’t need to be an asshat, because, truly I have a love affair with men. Dorky, sweet, smart, confident, attentive, loves their family, loves their mama, takes care of those around him…sigh. I love them in any form.

First of all, I don’t even know who Megan Fox is. LOL As for sex appeal, I like my paperback heroes tortured. In fact, the more tortured the better. As for women, I can’t really answer that since I’m hetero, but when I think of heroines I can tolerate, she has to be strong, not whiny and not too kick ass. I like the women I read to be independent and strong, but not so much that she doesn’t allow the hero to be THE HERO. I’m not too into all these kickass heroines because oftentimes the heroes that accompany them have been emasculated.

What’s wrong with the Good Humor man LOL I dunno, I may have to reconsider
he must like women. I’ve met a lot of men who really DON’T
That’s interesting and a great point. It would make for awkward sex appeal if he doesn’t

LOL Not picky at all. Asshatery is definitly a turn off. Dudes can have a bad day sure, but a bad attitude almost cannot be overcome!
