Okay, so it didn't have a lot of head-hopping or anything--I knew better than that. What it didn't have was...um...a conflict. I thought it did, but er, no. I've tried rewriting it oodles of times because I really loved the characters, but ultimately, I kept hitting dead ends. Probably because I refused to change the characters to make them more flawed and actually cause a real conflict. Oh well, live and learn! OMG, that baby is pretty much a dead ringer for my first book.

Reading it now, it's stilted and rough, but I still like it. I've thought of rewriting it on-line for fun. It's still just on paper. I sent it around many times by snail mail which was the only mode of query. I finished my second novel about the time I received something from an editor other than a form letter. It was negative enough I began sending my second novel out... but with the same results. By then I owned my own auto shop and had a daughter with a son on the way. Now my first baby that resembled an actual book, and in fact, the first one I ever submitted for publication (and thank GOD for that rejection) is slated for a total rewrite at some point whenever I decide to get back on the young adult train. It wasn't a bad concept, but it needed some serious work. I've got the overall plot in mind, I just need to find the time and inclination to revisit it. Well it depends.
