Naturally everyone is entitled to their opinion, and you have to accept the hateful with the good. But the older I get, the less patience I have. Maybe when the hateful outweighs the good I'll finally exit, stage right. I find I spend what time I have to surf these days at blogs of pros who actually work in publishing (or the determined who are seriously working toward that goal) versus the non-writers, camp followers and 24/7 promoblogs. It really depends on who comes to comment on those blogs, too -- too often now I don't feel like discussing the biz with someone who has no career or financial stake in what happens to us and our industry. To paraphrase King, it would be like me hanging around a neurosurgeon's lounge to talk about the best way to operate on someone's brain.
