Cinematic inspiration
A while back Raine (oopsy) Tanya asked about what we thought of books to movies—so of course I have been pondering that for a while. I *heart* movies, but I don’t get to go see too too many, unless it’s something the kids want to see—with a 6-y-o it can be limiting. So when something like the new Indiana Jones movie comes out… woohoo!

None of my kids had seen any Indy, none were even born when the first three movies came out, hell, for that matter neither was Shia Labeouf—how depressing is that?

Anyhoo, I digress. I bought the first three movies so we could show the boys—it beats getting question after question when we see it. Plus I really *heart* Indian Jones (and Sean Connery—yeah baby) When you see a movie like that, from your youth or a pivitol/impressionable time, it makes you remember what it’s like to think you can do anything… and if you’re lucky maybe you can get some of that exuberance back. (and maybe even write a chapter or two—double-woohoo!) What give you that little extra burst of… well… of woohoo?

OMG Funny off topic story. We’re at IM on Sunday and they show the trailer for INdy and I’m like LOOK Shia Labeouf is in it except i say his name ALL WRONG. #1 son corrects me and laughs
PS as for inspiration….Friday night while I was supposed to be writing and wasn’t and finally gave up, I turned Angel on (i DVR it every day) and … got an idea for a YA book. I know dork alert. It’s just a germ right now but it’ll grow!
LOL… my boys have watched him since Even Stevens and Holes I still feel icky when I think he’s good looking though
take inspiration whereever you get it–it seems to hit when you least expect it!
Slight correction…I think it was Tanya who posted on books to movies…
Yeah, I remember thinking I could do anything…many, many smackdowns ago…
And I’m with you on Indy. He could just show up wearing that hat, and I’m up and cheering, YAYYY!!!
Anyway, what gives me a burst of woohoo, film-wise?
Good action movies are good for it. Anything Raiders, you’re right. Speed. Matrix. Some of the Firefly stuff. Well-acted, character-driven drama
And if I can find a good book that inspires me to write—yeah.
Do not stone me, but I’ve never seen an Indiana Jones movie. I rode the ride at Disney Land, but never sat down to watch it. Everyone is talking about this and I know it’s going to force me to go buy the movies. I hate peer pressure.
(Raine, gathering rocks…)
doh! sorry Raine, I meant to go back and check last night, but was watching Medium while I wrote it…. dern Medium!
I *heart, heart, heart* the DIE HARD movies….
Mel… you’re kidding me
I… I
I saw all three at the movies… several times…
Harrison is a hottie in that fedora…
GO BUY IT MEL GO BUY IT
/peer pressure
DENNIE wasn’t that the CRAZIEST season finale?
My dear co-worker has decided to take pity on me and let me borrow all three of them. And hey, I have a really good excuse for not seeing them–the first two movies I wasn’t even born yet. The last one I was 4. Maybe my parents didn’t find Indiana Jones suitable.
Yes, I’m that young.
Okay, now you can stone me.
Ames, all I can say is ewww……
Mel, well…well….. I was a teenager when four came out so….
Excuses, excuses.
Trust your fellow writers, Mel. It’s good stuff!!
Yes, on Die Hard too, Dennie.

And I could toss in The Mummy (even though he never took his shirt off, and what a waste of such a body…).
Indy is cool and all, but I only really thought Harrison was hot as Hans. :-P
Ooooooooooo Vee we have new MUMMY Coming our way this summer!!!!!!!
I always like a good love story, especially if I need inspiration. Any of the Jane Eyre versions are good. Forever Young, House of Flying Daggers and Lady Chatterley are excellent too.
