My Bad!
First off, I TOTALLY forgot I was up today.
I even came in here this afternoon wondering why somebody hadn’t posted. Then it suddenly dawned on me at 3:30 while I was on my way to pick up my son that today was THURSDAY—my day!
Okay, so I screwed up. Mom was right. If I had a brain, I’d be a threat to all humanity. Anyway, the sad part is that I’d already written this week’s post, and had it saved on my hard drive, but today’s brain malfunction got me thinking about forgetfulness. So I’ll save my other post for next week, provided I can remember to post it!
Have you ever had a ‘well duh’ moment like this? Where you just completely blanked out about something you routinely do? Maybe you missed an important bill payment, an interview, an appointment? A deadline? Or perhaps :::gasp::: you forgot to pick up your kids? I’m talking major whoppers. I know I’ve done it in my writing. Left out whole chunks of important stuff … even characters.

OMG I ran out of gas this week–first time in like fourteen years!!!
Let’s see … I routinely forget to pay the bills and have had the water and electricity turned off. I now have many of them on auto-pay.
I (Dennie don’t look) left the chapter’s tickets for drawing prizes at a book signing in Stephenville–don’t worry I bought new ones.
I’ve never forgotten a kid but I have locked my keys in the car.
Honestly, the last couple of weeks I’ve walked around thinking, “What did i forget?” Somewhere out there someone is waiting on me to remember
Cece,
I’m still laughing at myself because I came IN HERE wondering why nobody had posted anything. Didn’t even stop to wonder what day it was. Then I got in the car to get my boy and I was halfway there when I had my “Oh, sh*t” moment. LOL! I hope this isn’t a sign that I’m getting old. I mean, come on. This is really scary. It was a major brain dump.
Running out of gas? I *almost* forgot to get it yesterday, but my son (who is extremely paranoid about this issue) reminded me from the backseat (the boy watches everything), “Mommy, get some gas! The needle’s on the red thing!”
I hope this doesn’t become a pattern for me…..
The garbage. Just this morning I had to do a crazy sprint arond the house, emptying wastepaper baskets and running out the door (in minus 12 weather without a coat) to make it to the curb before the truck passed my house.
A regular occurrence around here. :-P
heh! been there done that, posted mid-afternoon!
I have lost a child (in an airport of all places–got him back w/in ten SCARY minutes). Locked myself outa the house.
I forgot a bill recently. Like for two weeks. So embarrassing to have a late fee. And of course it’ll appear on my credit report as 30 days late. Duh.
My big fear is that I’ll forget something really bad, like leaving on the stove. I left the oven on overnight once when we lived in Hawaii. Terrible.
Well, I forgot to go into work one day. You see, I had a vacation coming up and I thought it started one week, when it was actually the next week.
Oh, and while suffering through three days of internet withdrawal, it suddenly came to me that maybe I should try plugging my laptop directly into the modem and see what happens. See, it worked and I’m on-line.
