Inspiration
I have a love of art that’s probably secondary only to my love of fine writing.
I have books, books, and more books on my favorite artists. Paintings featured in gorgeous galleries worldwide. Prints, posters, postcards of the ones that take my breath away. And a few sketchbooks and canvases of my own.
But this is the painting I have on my bedroom wall. It’s the last thing I see before the lights go out, and the first thing in the morning.
Why this painting, out of all the masterpieces available as prints?
Because it inspires me. It reminds me that I’m greater than the sum of my poor parts, and that we’re all “creators” in one way or another. It’s a comforting thought, even when I’m not feeling that spark of the divine—or even particularly human, lol.
Who—or what—inspires you?

Paintings certainly do.
Short term memory loss. :)
Mottos. They’re simplistic and stupid (*gg*) and too the point. And sometimes they’re all I need. They make you re-focus.
On a writing level: when I see a {cheesy} chick flick it reminds me why I like to write and have the HEA in my books. They’re fun and happy and make me smile and feel better and remind me that I am doing what I enjoy.
On a personal level: my kiddos. I try to make sure I don’t screw them up too terribly much ~
Talking to creative people, bouncing around ideas. That’s what inspires me.
Good one, Bailey! I always feel more energized after I’ve come from an local chapter meeting. On the same note another thing that inspires me is good writing in books, movies, tv shows, etc., You think ‘wow’, that was great /clever dialogue/foreshadowing, etc., and makes you want to step up to the plate. On the fip side how many of us finally put pen to paper because of that one atrocious book that made you think ‘I can do better than this!’ lol.
Good movies that are out of the box
. Anyway, I recently saw Catch and Release and it made me want to write, it made me want to live better, it made me just want to be a better person i.e. not sweating the small stuff. (perfectionism)
I also have a thing for good quotes that just sums up what I really needed to hear. One that is on my wall indefinitely is “I’m worthy simply because I am.” I love that one.

I can tell.

If they fill a need & they work for you, they’re not stupid!
(I say that because I catch myself reciting them sometimes too, lol).

Now you make me wonder what it says about me if I sometimes balk about writing an HEA…

Always a good reason, Dennie—even if it doesn’t always work, lol.

Absolutely, Bailey. Good point.

I love it…sort of the inspiration of anti-inspiration…

That IS a good one, Mel—especially for those who tend to equate what they accomplish to their self-worth, even when they know it’s not so.
The thing that most inspires me is stellar writing. A great book is always good for kick-starting my own creativity.
