Deep in the Writing Cave
I am DEEP DEEP in my writing cave and desperate to get this book out before Santa comes and leaves me a lump of coal in my stocking. I edited and flipped to first person 63 pages yesterday. All day. ALL. DAY!
But at one point I took a break (oh RAINE is going to be TICKLED SHITLESS!) and was talking to a friend on IM (who I’m sure would prefer to remain anonymous). She told me about this guy who has erection problems (it was more specific than that but I’ll leave it at that)….and well my mind was off and running as a writer’s mind tends to do. See I have this character, his name is Will (as in…the Kill….Raine stop jumping up and down) and his story would be a spin off of my June release, Nailed, but I’ve been back and forth on whether to write it or not because writing action/suspense is really hard for me. Not that I dont want to push myself and try but I’m not sure it’s my forte. Anyway Will’s story is all plotted out but it needed a bit more…not sure what but something, a twist, a dash of spice ….A SPARK! It needed a spark, and SHE gave it to me. So Raine…my buddy, the hotblooded killer just got some serious woman issues. I’m so excited!!!
So have you ever had the spark? that one last piece of the puzzle that fell into place and set you off and running (usually at the most INOPERTUNE TIMES)….Share!

I have not heard of the spark, but Lord know I need one. The days are ticking away and yet my bitch of a muse has taken her tarty self off someway…
Le sigh. I know some don’t believe in muses but…
Either way! You’ll get the story down and its gonna kick ass! Big hugs!
p.s. You rock! Seriously. You rock and you know why.
my bitch of a muse has taken her tarty self off someway…
Beat the bitch into submission Emma!
Yes, I did, I had a huge problem with a story and Mary D–founding ‘Bud gave me a great idea and vi-ola my first release was born . . . . . .
uber-great cover BTW
I would but she’d probably like that a little too much.
p.s. I LOOOOOOVE that cover!
Great cover!
I haven’t had the spark, but I’ve had the zone which I love.
You’ll get it done - I have confidence in you.
Happens all the time. Some times it’s not a specific thing, like your H’s dysfunction, some times it’s simply a sign that a scene needs to be pushed a little more, a character should not be quite as nice as you’ve been writing them, etc.
My ears were burning.
Will, huh? Hmmm…yeah, it does seem like I remember something about him…
Good on you! I’m sure it’ll be awesome!
And yes, I have experienced “The spark”. As you say—usually at the wrong place and time, or when I’m supposed to be doing something else, lol. I worried and fretted about what to do about my villain in ‘Howl’, for example…having his throat ripped out by a werewolf just seemed so cliche, y’know?
But I found the solution while editing another story, something I’d casually mentioned there…et voila! It sent me off and running.
Verra nice cover, BTW!
Spark? Er… it’s been awhile.
Much like my lovelife Tanya
yeah, it does seem like I remember something about him…
Merry Christmas
