Are We There Yet?
I’ve got a dangerous little notion in my head that’s just burrowed into my brain and is quietly trying to take over.
No, not the one for world domination. Another one.
It’s an idea for a story.
Well, not exactly an idea. More like a vision. Dammit.
And not exactly like a story. More like a freaking saga.
It’s not even genre-specific. It has elements of a bit of everything.
And it intimidates the bejesus out of me at the moment.
And it’s not that I don’t love what I’m writing at the moment. I do. I’ve got a dozen or so stories I dearly want to write. So maybe this one just stands out because it’s..different. Dammit.
I’m sure I’ll write it—just not sure when. Maybe after I convince myself that my skills are up to the task.
So what about you?
Are you currently writing in the genre you see yourself eventually settling into?
And if not—whatcha waitin’ for?

If only I could write in just ONE genre. I know all about branding and what not, but I love Romantic suspense. I love straight contemporary and have deleloped a love for ghost stories. honest and true YA and Historical are about the only two things I haven’t written (and technically I have plotted a Regency and have a contemp that if I keep it as is could/would be YA)
Did I answere your question?
Dude…Denise…you’re in deep shit.
Ok I dont care if you’re scared of this project, I think you should tackle it. Remember how scared I was when I started Forbidden? And how excited? It’s TOTALLY different for me….totally!!!!! And I have always said I’d never be able to write a futuristic (thanks Tanya
)
Never Say Never Babe
Did I answer your question?
Um…yup.
Ames, I don’t know if I’d call it ’scared’ to tackle the project…
I’m more afraid that I won’t do it justice, y’know?
My first was a high fantasy, which I’m currently waiting to hear from the publisher I sent it to. My current WIP is urban fantasy, set in pretty much the modern day. I’ve got another on the back burner that’s another fantasy, but more sword and sorcery kind of thing. And then there’s this mystery I’ve been thinking of starting for PBW’s next ebook challenge: write it up to novella length and then afterwords turn it into a novel. It would be set in the 1920, taking place during a cross country car trip (from upstate NY to southern CA) in a Model A Ford. I may need to pick a few more psuedonyms, but I want to write all over the place
. You can do it, stretch those muscles, and edit, edit, edit (that’s what I’m doing).
P.S. If you’re still up for world domination, I’m free next week.
Ann, you have so much ENERGY, lol.

Good for you for not limiting yourself at all!
(I’ll pencil you in on the world domination list…)
~No, not the one for world domination.~
Why I love your style and your mind.
Not do it justice?
Phooey.
Why I love your style and your mind.
(Adding Bernita to the list for world domination…)
