Well…and HELL
Last week’s contest didn’t go so well, Soooooo I didn’t do it. Sorry Mik and Dennie–it’s not like ya’ll don’t get to read my stuff anyway.
Now for the hell.
I haven’t had a f*cking cigarette since Friday. And I have PMS. Is that TMI?
I gotta tell ya folks, quitting smoking and PMS is HELL HELL HELL! All I thought about all weekend long, between frequent naps and snapping at my children, was cigarettes and how bad I wanted one. I even had to take the ashtray out of my room but I haven’t emptied it yet.
Don’t get me wrong it’s not the mental/withdrawl cravings. I have good drugs for that (except they make my tummy hurt really bad). It’s the loss of an old friend.
It’s trying to figure out what to do with my hands.
It’s boredom.
Life is just not as fun without a cigarette to keep me company.
So, what have you had to give up and why? Share my misery…….

I’m sorry your having such a miserable time. I’ve only been a social smoker in the past so I have no idea of your pain. You can always flip everyone off. It’ll keep your hands busy.

I quit drinking soda, but started drinking coffee and tea so I get more caffeine now and get the jitters every so often
Gave up the ciggies for 3 weeks once.
You’re right…I didn’t miss the smoking so much as the habit, the what to do with my hands, the something to stick in my mouth, etc. Compensated with candy. BAD idea…
Except for when I’m in a screw-it-all mood, I’ve had to give up steaks and hamburger.

The older I get, the more I notice that I don’t seem to digest red meat very well.
REd meat is not so great for you too Raine….I can think of other things I’d like to stick in my mouth and suck on but………..

I’ve given up fried food - specifically cheeseburgers and GDI all I think about are cheeseburgers. Drippy, cheesy, burgers fried in a vat of grease with homemade soft buns and the works. No mayo. Mustard only. And french fries. DAMN I want that so bad. But alas, I cannot. And the reason why I’ve given it up - it’s fattening and I’m trying to eat healthier (so does the Payday candy bar I just had count?)
Congrats on trying to quit. I know - it’s gotta SUCK!
Let’s see, Aimee. What’s a relatively benign addiction you can substitute??? (I don’t have any ideas for you, just asking the question. You know, kind of like a therapist.
