So I’ve Been Thinking
Which is, as you know, always dangerous. But after reading Raine’s post which sort of, kind of, tied into my current WIP, I got an idea for today’s blog post.
What if you could go back in time and change one thing in your past….what would you change, and how do you think it might alter the rest of your life?
What if you could go back in time and change one thing in HISTORY….what would you change, and how do you think it might affect life as we know it today?
For me, I think if I could go back and change one thing, I’d wait to have sex. I have no one to blame but myself but I think that a lot of the bad man choices I’ve made in my life go back to that one moment. What would be different now? I hope, if I did do that one thing, I’d have made those better man choices (and been a hell of a lot more discriminate), and just flat out had more respect for myself. Youth really is wasted on the young.
And for history (and this one ties into my WIP), I’d like to stop Kennedy’s assassination. I think this country would be a very different place. Or maybe something smaller. It’s amazing the little things that can cause such a domino affect.
Now it’s your turn. And BTW I just made my first kill–ON PAPER!

Always something special about that first kill, ain’t it?
Mine was with a staple gun. Still brings a fond smile to my face…
Change one thing? Only ONE??!
I think it’d be to not listen to the first person who ever told me I wasn’t talented/qualifed/good enough to do anything. Sometimes such people mean well, they’re trying to save you from disappointment/heartbreak. But if you listen to them for too long, they’ll rob you of your hopes and dreams.
There are just too many things in history to choose just one. So many mistakes.
Heh. Mine would be to not have had sex too. In history? I’ll have to think about that one.
I would definitely go to college and NOT marry the first idiot. But then again, I would be a different person today if I had. Probably in a real professional and probably NOT writing books. I dunno…
As for history… I don’t think I’d really want to change anything. But I’d definitely want to go back and be a witness
Ok, I decided to go recent history…
I’d change it so that 9/11 never happened. That single act of terrorism not only tragically changed so many lives, but robbed a proud nation of its sense of security, so that it was willing to allow self-serving men in positions of power to act in ways we would not have tolerated before.
Oops…just tripped over my soapbox…
Sometimes I wihs I could go back so that my mom never put me in Weight Watchers (I think I was 8)
Eva on that I’d definitely say hindsight is 20/20 (and then some!)
Funny thing is Mik your life would have turned out just as good as it is now, just different
Raine for all the reasons you said, I agree.
Those are hard questions. I’d probably lose a dude from my past. I’d like to think it would make a difference. As for history, I’d be tempted to stop the development of the nuclear bomb…even though it would change the course of WWII.
Wow Amie, hard ones to ponder. I think if I could change one thing in my past it would be to listen to my head instead of my heart (or fear of embarassment) and called off my wedding the day before like I should have, but I was young and in love and STUPID!
I could have had so much less angst and dissapointment. I would hope I would still have my kids, but the circumstances surrounding the early part of their lives would be different, genetic make-up aside.
History… Here’s a slightly different twist. What if Martin Luther couldn’t start the Protestant Revolution because the Pope succeeded in killing him sooner. It is possible that we would all be Catholic (well, unless you lived with Henry VIII) and then none of us would have a chance in hell of making it to heaven (only so many are allowed to go, you know - so that’s why you should be good, in case you’re chosen…)
