Schedulus Interruptus
Sorry for not posting more books, I had major mom moments this weekend.
Which brings me to today’s blog topic–me or er…YOU. ![]()
Ladies…I have to ask, when’s the last time you had a check up?
When’s the last time you had a mamogram or a pap smear or your hormone levels checked?
Have you checked your diet lately? Do you take vitamins? Did you know that a Vitamin A deficiency can cause tiny bumps on the back of your upper arms? And vitamin deficiencies in general can make you feel like shit and mimic more serious health problems?
When’s the last time you splurged on a haircut or a new pair of shoes? When’s the last time you got a pedicure or a massage? Never? Don’t you think it’s time you did?
When’s the last time you went for a walk? Or looked up at the sky? Or took a bath and locked the damned door?
I guess my point is, if we don’t take care of us, how the hell can we take care of the billion and one other things we have to deal with all day, every day, three hundred and sixty five freaking days of the year? If you haven’t done anything for yourself lately, promise me you will.

My creditors would strongly disagree with that…
Can’t get blood from a turnip
lemme see youngest just turned 5 so … 5 years on the check up
a walk … went to Six Flags last Monday and the fair on Friday so twice last week
My mammogram is coming up in Nov. Very important for me being my Mom passed away from breast cancer and one of her sisters has had both breasts removed.
Have a check up every year, a pap smear every five years(hysterectomy), no mammogram. Had a double mastaectomy in 1967 at age 25. Am very careful to keep up on my medical issues.
Checkups every year, vitamins and glucosamine (for my squeaky knees). Went to the eye doc this past spring, and going to the dentist last week (2 year anniversary of my last visit). But apparently I do all that so I can sit in front of the ‘puter. I promise to get out more. You’re right–it’s important to everything :)
Um. It’s been a while. Yeah yeah yeah I know. I’ve been busy and really there’s no excuse for me not having a check up. But I’m planning on doing it very soon. Promise. :)
As someone who recently had a bad news mammogram (everything’s fine now but it wouldn’t have been if I hadn’t been on top of things) I can’t stress taking care of yourself ENOUGH. So get the boobs squished. And then treat yourself to the bookstore for a good book. Or have cookies. That always works for me.
Dennie……get a pap! And I’m going to say this with much love….We can’t live 100% for our kids. We deserve to be selfish and do things we want (not that you never do *coughchriscough* but…).
Robyn…Estella good for you both and hugs! I’m pretty sure I”ll have to get my first mamo soon.
Marty I’ve got to start walking also…doctor’s orders. O’course not so sure I like this new doctor but no switching until after we finish up some routine tests.
*note to self* hound Mik
Hey Jill! Thanks for stopping by and you’re absolutely right. As much as we don’t want (to deal with) bad news so much stuff is treatable and/or has a good outcome when caught and taken care of early.
