I Miss My Zen
I was recently reading some questions posed to writers, one of which was “Do you enter a Zen-like state when you write?”
That Zen-like crazy writer’s place is a crazy writer’s place where characters actually talk and stuff that I don’t often admit too outside of my writing friends, but yes, I’ve been there. Sadly, I lost the map and haven’t been there in a long (LONG) time. It’s a joyous, place full of LIGHTS, CAMERA and ACTION. And try as I might I can’t seem to get back to it, and honestly, I don’t know why. These days, between getting up at 6 AM to get the kid to football and the renovation crew crawling in and out of my office and talking to me when I don’t want them to, writing more resembles that last stage of labor than the actual baby-making (which, for me anyway, was always the easiest part).
So what do you do when your entire schedule is turned upside-down? Post your thoughts and win some socks!

When I’m put completely off-schedule, I turn into a complete bitch. Don’t like it, and resent the intrusions on my personal space.
Of course, I’m like that on Mondays too. EVERY Monday.
And on days when I have to go to the doctor/dentist.
And when the traffic is bad.
And when the writing sucks.
And when I have to deal with family issues.
And…………..
DUnno bout you babe but I can’t wait to go to the doc. I’m tired of feeling like this.
I would be in a Zen like place if the minute I hit my peak kids weren’t fighting, the dog puking or some friggin’ other kid was at at the door knocking… I can be uber-Zen like when I hit my stride - but as, just this second, I had fingers shoved in my face, it don’t happen much! :???:
What’s a schedule? I forget.
I loved that zen feeling … typing along and suddenly you look up and hours had gone by, the words flowing like a waterfall, ideas bouncing back and forth … yeah, those were the days.
Is it cold enough for socks yet?
Hey bailey email me and I’ll send you some socks!
I promise they’ll make you feel zen!
